Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do hospital visits?

For a number of reasons, particularly hospital policies and insurance reimbursement, I do not visit clients during their hospital stay. If we work together during your pregnancy, I make it a priority to be available as soon as possible after you get home with your newborn.

What do I do to prepare for a home visit?

Almost nothing! Please don’t bother to clean your home- I am here to help you and your baby, and messes are to be expected during this challenging stage of life. We’ll need some space on a table or floor near our work area, along with access to an electrical outlet, for my baby scale. Pets are fine, but if you have any large animals that may interfere with our session, please keep them out of the area we’ll be working in. If you use any pumping or feeding tools, it helps to have them washed and ready to use.

Do you take my insurance?

I am in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (with BCBS plans, you will find me listed in your provider directory as a dietitian and not an IBCLC, but I am licensed and credentialed for both nutrition and lactation counseling and for most BCBS plans, both are covered); and partner with Wildflower Health for in-network care with Cigna.

For all other insurance plans, you’ll pay me with credit card prior to the appointment, and I provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Many plans will reimburse at least a portion of the cost. FSA and HSA cards are also accepted. I offer discounts for Tricare/military members, families with WIC or Medicaid benefits, and parents who are inducing lactation.
